The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking advantage of being the most geotagged sports venue on Instagram, and second most tagged location in the world.

Most major league teams realize that integrating social media into their marketing strategy is a must, but by creating photo ops around the stadium for fans to “tag” where they are, the Dodgers are able to incorporate a sponsor in a more creative way.

For example, to commemorate Jackie Robinson, the team has a life size “42” in the stadium for fans to take pictures with. As you can see in the background, Bank of America’s logo is being displayed – this is the most tagged location in the stadium.

In addition to the number 42 there are two other areas where the Dodgers are incorporating sponsor messaging. There is a bobblehead statue that includes the message “Use #SanManuelDodgers to see yourself on Dodgervision.” The Dodgers use these hashtags to keep track the photos, and plans to create at least four more stadium photo ops.

This is a very unique way to incorporate your team’s sponsors. We haven’t seen this out many other teams, but expect it to gain popularity around the major leagues.
